The Cisco Catalyst 9500 Switch Network Modules provide flexible uplink expansion for select Catalyst 9500 fixed switches. Available as a 2-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ module or an 8-port 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP/SFP+ module, these field-installable cards let you tailor aggregation and core uplinks to your bandwidth and optics strategy without replacing the base switch. Ordered separately from the chassis, the modules are supported on the C9500-16X platform, enabling high-density 10 GbE downlinks with either 10 GbE or 40 GbE uplinks as your campus or distribution core evolves.

- Two uplink options: 8 x 1/10 GbE (SFP/SFP+) or 2 x 40 GbE (QSFP+).
- Field-upgradeable design adds or changes uplinks without swapping the base switch.
- Aligns with Catalyst 9500 capabilities such as advanced routing, StackWise Virtual, and SD-Access architectures.
- Designed to match optics, reach, and backbone requirements for enterprise aggregation and core.

- Bundled systems: C9500-16X switches are available preconfigured with the 2 x 40 GbE module (for example, C9500-16X-2Q).
